The art world has suffered greatly in the pandemic. The artists saw their ecosystem of performances, exhibitions, tours come to a standstill … and now, little by little, a bit of action is beginning to show. (The Club of the 100 million of Peña Guaba is not included).
The Biennial has breathed optimism. In another scenario, the chavoneros have taken Mamey by storm to show off in the exhibition of works from the last promotion. Very good production, in a difficult year in which they have had to work since the closure of the pandemic. Bold formats, lots of introspection. Raquel Paiewonsky, director of the School of Fine Arts, enthusiastically shows the talent and sensitivity perceived in this group that leaves Chavón in full uncertainty.
The Peña Defilló museum recently housed the work of Fernando Calzada (impressive his first exhibition that also had a good sale) and now houses the work of a young Ana Sofía Batlle who continues to delve into a very personal imaginary and who since her first exhibition at Casa de Theater has matured towards a more technical work in which it is very comfortable and very accurate in handling color.
And the Ministry of Culture has already inaugurated in the Museum of the Royal Houses the exhibition “Fugitive Guelphs and Ghibellines: Dante and Opicino, travelers of the fantastic”, on the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri and in homage to Opicino de Canistris . It is one of those unusual exhibitions that arrive thanks to the collaboration of an embassy, in this case that of Italy, and that allows us to leave our usual circuits and peek into other realities. Little by little … Art returns.
