From December 1 (opening of the exhibition) until March 25, 2024, the exhibition of the works of the painter Solomon Geršovs, “Art in the Gulag. Vorkuta. 1948–1956”.
This exhibition features drawings made in Vorkut, the existence of which became known only recently. They dramatically document the images of Gulag prisoners and the daily life of the camp. The artist continues the theme of the Gulag until his death. One of Gershov’s most significant late works is “Memories of the Gulag” (pictured).
This is the first exhibition that can be viewed in the renovated building of the Liepāja Occupation Museum. Although intensive work is currently underway on the creation of a new interactive historical exposition, the Liepāja Museum will open its doors to visitors from December 2 this year, who will have the opportunity to see an exhibition on the theme of the Gulag.
Exhibition “Art in the Gulag. Vorkuta 1948-1956” can be viewed until March 25, 2024 from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 to 18.
