“Art in the English Quarter”, the new proposal of the Palace Cultural Center in Coquimbo

One of the most prominent cultural spaces in the region has had, like each and every one of us, to adapt to the new contingencies caused by the pandemic. Culture has seen its activity decimated for various reasons, and artists have seen the possibility of showing their art live reduced, and the digital age has made possible new forms of diffusion.

The Palace Cultural Center and its team of professionals have wanted to give a new possibility to artists who have not stopped in their creation and generated “Art in the English Quarter”, with a first artistic and cultural season focused on those creators who are developing artistic pieces for the public of the commune of Coquimbo and those who wish to enjoy them.

Arte en el Barrio Ingles, will feature an annual season of artistic presentations related to the performing arts, designed and produced by the Palace Cultural Center for the commune of Coquimbo. The artistic presentations will be linked mainly to music, dance and theater. All this, with the respective safety and health measures, established by the authorities of the Municipality of Coquimbo, the government health authority and rigorous application of its Covid-19 Protocol.

In addition to the broadcast space, which today most of it will be digital, there is also the possibility of occupying the excellent technical equipment and professional staff of the renowned space. For Yessica Delaigue, administrator of the Palace Cultural Center, the “Art in the English Quarter” program is an excellent option for established artists, but also for new artists and points out: “One of the particularities that this initiative will have is that the casts and / or soloists will be invited to participate in it and will not do so through an application. Said invitation will be in charge of a simple curatorial process, developed by the Artistic Programming and Production Team of the Palace Cultural Center. “

The selection will be annual and will have 12 casts or soloists from the commune and also from the region. These creations will be installed in its programming in a strategic way and to provide the public with an attractive billboard that invites the artists to follow.

Another measure of the program is the “Artistic Services Exchange System”, as compensation for being part of this season. These services correspond to artistic supplies that can be delivered in a professional manner, for example, a photographic record of the activity, professional audio recordings and editions and streaming transmission for the space’s social networks and also for the networks of the guest artists.

The next activity of this program will be the online presentation of the outstanding musician Luis Mery y Conjunto, on Friday, February 26, at 8:00 p.m., through the social networks of the Palace Cultural Center.
