Art historian, Central Institute for Art History, Munich

The Central Institute for Art History (ZI) in Munich is the only non-university art historical research institute in the Federal Republic of Germany. With its research department, one of the world’s most important and largest art historical specialist libraries, the image collections of its photo library as well as numerous internationally used online offerings and databases, the ZI is also a central service institution and offers outstanding work opportunities for the international scientific community. The institute is a department subordinate to the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art.

We are looking for an art historian (m/f/d) from March 1st, 2025 in the areas of supervision of national and international fellows, event planning and research.

The primary responsibilities of the person in this position include:

– to coordinate the ZI’s scholarship system and to supervise the national and international fellows during their stay at the institute,

– to organize and coordinate the ZI’s extensive event program,

– to enrich the ZI’s research profile with its different priorities through its own research activities (a focus that is not yet represented at the ZI is desirable),

– as well as to participate in the tasks and scientific activities of the ZI as a whole.

Requirements for employment are a doctorate in art history, high organizational skills, very good social and communicative skills as well as international networking/cooperation.

The grouping takes place, depending on the personal requirements and the predominantly assigned activities, up to salary group 14 TV-L.

The full-time position is permanent and part-time.
