Art, live and direct and from different disciplines. That is the great secret of Art evenings to Baixamar, an initiative that in view of the good results harvested last summer has been recovered by the Maó City Council. The organizers have scheduled three sessions for this summer, the first of which took place this Saturday evening. The program chose the Moll de Ponent area as the setting for the start of this new edition.
Between 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., this environment became an artistic showcase for visitors. To that space, one of the liveliest tourist centers in the city, was added yesterday the incentive of being able to see first-hand how a creative process unfolds. Thus, the passers-by enjoyed first-hand the work of a good number of local artists or residents of the Island.
But the proposal of Art evenings Baixamar goes beyond contemplation through the eyes. Music also plays an important role in this new proposal for cultural leisure promoted by the Consistory, in addition to other types of complementary activities designed to make a walk along the port a magnificent summer experience.
In this context, one of the most striking proposals was, around nine o’clock at night, a parade that included the participation of a gigantic figure of an articulated dragon, approximately twelve meters long, “Terlaku, the Talayotic Dragon.” A spectacular montage that undoubtedly became one of the most successful attractions of the first day.
The four hours of art by the sea served to launch an activity that still has two appointments pending this summer. The following will take place on August 18 and the season will come to an end on September 1.
From the Economic Dynamization area, which is in charge of launching this activity, they are not only happy with the response obtained from the public, but also with the involvement of local artists to bring the project to life. They add that it is an initiative that, beyond the artistic and as an entertainment offer, is a good tool to encourage commercial activity in a highly attractive area of the city.
