Within the framework of International Museum Day and in the midst of the crisis in Ukraine, art has become a means of expression that raises awareness and brings the viewer closer to another reality. That is why the Madrid association with Ukraine in collaboration with the
Illustrious

Madrid Bar Association and through the support of the Ukrainian embassy in Spain, they present the exhibition ‘The Disasters of War – 21st Century Version’.

The exhibition exposes the war through the eyes of Ukrainian artists Volodymyr Stasenko y Ostap Kovalchukwho through boards and fabrics capture the horrors of a conflict that both have experienced firsthand.

Stasenko under the motto «Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy on us», made a series of twelve works on canvas where he evidences the misery of war through the photographs taken by military correspondents and witnesses who survived the Russian invasion, with the aim that they be seen and understood by all humanity. On the other hand, the painter Kovalchuk, elaborated the series ‘Images burned by war in which, from wooden boards collected from a building bombed at the beginning of the war in Kyiv, I capture some of the strong images of the epicenter of the armed conflict, where violence is the main action of his fourteen works.

Being of military age, the authors have had to request a special permit from the Ukrainian government to be able to carry out this traveling exhibition in various European countries. This is inaugurated in Madrid May 18 at 8:00 p.m.with the presence of the dean Jose Maria Alonsoand the ambassador
