Around 2 a.m. there was a big bang in the Pfarrgasse.

Residents heard a loud bang. A van from the Vonovia housing company then caught fire. The alarmed emergency services of the volunteer fire brigade Bischofswerda moved out immediately.

When it arrived on site, the transporter was on fire, especially in the front part.

With the help of large amounts of water, the emergency services finally managed to get the fire under control and extinguish it.

Fortunately, the flames did not spread to the adjacent building, which was inhabited by several people, so that even greater damage could be prevented. There were no injuries to complain about.

In contrast, the vehicle suffered a total economic loss.

The criminal police started the investigation that night. An arson attack is considered very likely.

Attacks on property and especially on Vonovia vehicles are not uncommon.

Similar fires occurred in Dresden in September and October (TAG24 reported). Here, too, vans from the Bochum real estate company were set on fire and some of them burned out completely.

As the public prosecutor’s office in Dresden announced at the time, even the Police Terrorism and Extremism Defense Center (PTAZ) was turned on.

The financial damage in attacks of this type is usually in the considerable five-digit range.

There are currently no references to the perpetrators of the Pfarrgasse in Bischofswerda.
