On Tuesday, unknown perpetrators set fire to an electricity pylon in a field that is also responsible for supplying the Tesla factory in Grünheide. The car manufacturer’s production has been stopped for the time being. Like Edeka, Tesla is expecting an outage that will last for days.
A left-wing extremist group said it was responsible for the attack. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Edeka said it redirected delivery flows for fruit and vegetables as well as food that needed to be refrigerated via the logistics centers in Landsberg (Saxony-Anhalt) and Lauenau (Lower Saxony). The supply of fresh goods to the markets was significantly limited. Cooling and deep-freezing of food could have been ensured at any time in the Freienbrink camp using emergency generators. Products that are not refrigerated would be delivered from the logistics center in Mittenwalde anyway. There are no problems there. The company did not provide any information about the damage.
Under normal circumstances, the retail chain supplies around 500 markets in Berlin and Brandenburg from the Freienbrink logistics center, which is located in the municipality of Grünheide in eastern Brandenburg. 100 trucks are available to deliver fruit and vegetables as well as dairy products, delicatessen, meat and frozen goods. According to the company, around 1,000 employees work there.
