These racehorses were housed in the stable of a hotel-casino complex in Nichols, on the border with Pennsylvania, 250 km from New York. Early Thursday morning, emergency services were requested to intervene on the fire in part of this establishment.
But only the bodies of more than 24 equines were found, as well as a man with serious second-degree burns after trying to save the animals trapped by the flames. According to the New York State Police, cited by TMZthe damage amounts to several thousand dollars.
