In a fire on the premises of a car dealership in Köpenick, numerous vehicles went up in flames. 20 cars were damaged early Wednesday morning (April 14, 2021), 7 of which were completely burned out, the police said.
Around 2:30 a.m., at least three burning cars were noticed by residents on the site on Wendenschloßstraße and reported to the fire brigade. When the emergency services arrived, the flames had already spread to other vehicles. The firefighters were busy with the extinguishing work until after 6.00 a.m., as according to a fire department spokesman there were also electric vehicles among the burning vehicles. Due to the strong heat development, a garage on a neighboring property was also damaged. During the extinguishing work, in which around 30 firefighters were deployed, Wendenschloßstraße was temporarily closed. This also resulted in restrictions on local public transport.
