Willian just joined Arsenal. The Brazilian winger revealed Arsenal’s ambitious target in three years, namely to win Champions League.
Willian left for Arsenal for free after spending his contract at Chelsea. Together the Gunners, Willian is contracted until 2023, according to his wishes after turning down the offer the Blues which only presented a new agreement for two years.
Although he is already 32 years old, Willian will add experience to the squad Arsenal. During seven seasons in the ‘blue’ shirt, Willian has made more than 300 appearances with 63 goals and 62 assists in all competitions.
He has collected two Premier League winners’ medals, one FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League. The only major title Willian has yet to win is the Champions League with Chelsea’s furthest run until the semi-finals in 2013/14.
Arsenal have been absent from competing in the Champions League for three seasons. Together with Willian, Arsenal are eager to return to the European terelite competition and win it.
“One of the reasons I wanted the three-year contract was to be part of a plan, not just a player hitching a ride,” Willian told SunSport.
“When I spoke to the manager, he told me why he needed me for three years. He said the first one wants to qualify for the Champions League and win it until I leave. That’s what I want to hear.”
“I’ve played for Chelsea for seven years and won everything except the Champions League. Hopefully this move will give me a trophy that I’ve never won as well as other Premier League titles,” he said. Willian.
