London – Arsenal’s footballers won the 32nd round of the English league in Brighton 3-0, and at least until Monday they settled at the top of the table. Three points were also scored by Manchester City, who turned around the unfavorable development on the Crystal Palace field and won 4:2. The main character of the winners was the Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, who scored two goals in his 250th league game for the Citizens and set up the third for Nor Erling Haaland. Liverpool can return to first place on Sunday if they get three points at Manchester United.

Arsenal once again benefited from excellent defending, with Spanish keeper Ray not conceding a goal away for the fifth time in a row. Brighton may not have lost 12 games in a row at home, but this time they resisted for just over half an hour. The converted penalty marked Arsenal’s top scorer Saka’s 13th league goal of the season. The German Havertz added the second and prepared the third for the Belgian Trossard. Arsenal have won ten out of eleven games since the start of the year, only having to settle for a goalless draw with Manchester City.

In the December match, Crystal Palace lost 0:2 at the Etihad Stadium and still saved a point. This time he started much better. Already in the 3rd minute, the Frenchman Mateta, who also scored a goal in the last match between them, ran from the middle of the field with the ball at his feet, and finished the solo with a precise shot.

Away coach Guardiola has rested Foden, who scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa in midweek, ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid. On the contrary, Haaland and De Bruyne returned to the starting line-up and both were among the scorers. It was the Belgian captain who equalized after ten minutes from the corner of the box.

Right after the change of sides, Lewis’s spot-kick ended up in the home net. It was the second goal for the 19-year-old in the Premier League, the first one he also scored against Crystal Palace. The best scorer of the competition, Haaland secured the lead with his 19th league goal, and the jubilant De Bruyne completed the demolition of the home team twenty minutes before the end. Substitute Frenchman Édouard only mitigated the defeat in the end.

After four rounds without a win, West Ham United won 2-1 at Wolverhampton thanks to a turnaround after the break. At the same time, after the first half, the home team led thanks to a penalty converted by the Spaniard Sarabia. In the second half, the visiting coach Moyes made two changes, Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal did not return to the field. Brazilian Paquetá equalized and Ward-Prowse took the lead to the “Hammers” side five minutes before the end. In the set-up, the home team pushed the ball into the net, but the joy of the equalizer was taken away by the video referee, who detected an offside.

Aston Villa, fighting for fourth place and participation in the Champions League, had to settle for a 3-3 draw with Brentford. This was mainly decided by a breakdown within ten minutes of the second half, in which the home team conceded three goals. At least Watkins saved them a point with his second goal of the game.

Everton haven’t won in 13 rounds, the longest wait for a win in 67 years. The black streak ended in the match with Burnley. The unintended credit for this went to the visiting Kosovar goalkeeper Murič, who hit the onrushing Calvert-Lewin during the play-off, from which the ball bounced into the goal. The effort to equalize was undermined by the red card received by O’Shea.

For Fulham, matches with Newcastle are a nightmare. He lost to an unpopular opponent for the sixth time in a row. The only goal in the battle between the teams from the calm middle of the table was scored nine minutes before the end by the Brazilian Guimareas. Slovakian goalkeeper Dúbravka foiled all the attempts of the home team with an excellent performance.

Newcomer Luton won for the first time after ten rounds, reviving hopes of a rescue. It was taken by Bournemouth, who were still in the lead with seventeen minutes to go, but Clark equalized with his first league goal and Morris made it three points in the last minute.
