Arsenal trails Brentford in the first half

Arsenal closed the first round trailing 0-1 to Brentford. Sergi Canos’ goal made the difference in the match at the Brentford Community Stadium, Saturday (14/8/2021) early morning WIB.

The course of the match

Arsenal started the game and tried to control the game immediately. But Brentford showed intent to push back and make the visitors awkward on the ball.

Good opportunity for Brentford in the 12th minute. Mbeumo escaped the offside trap and received a pass from Toney to face Bernd Leno. His hard kick from the right side hit the outside of the goal post.

Arsenal indeed had more possession of the ball, but struggled to find a gap in Brentford’s tight defence. Meanwhile, Brentford actually threatened with chaos in the penalty box in the 16th minute.

GOAL! Brentford took the lead in the 22nd minute. Calum Chambers’ clearance was regained by Brentford in the middle, with Pinnock passing to Sergi Canos down the left.

Canos held the ball briefly, then moved into the middle and fired a low shot at the near post that Leno couldn’t keep out. Not a good start for Arsenal.
