Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly compete for former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri this summer.
Spurs are looking for a permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho, and Sarri is believed to have been identified by the North London club as a leading candidate.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Carlo Laudismus, Tottenham are very much in the running for the Italian, but Arsenal could also compete, should they relieve Mikel Arteta of his managerial duties following a disappointing 2020-21 campaign.
“Sarri could go to England,” Laudisa told Radio Punto Nuovo. “The Tottenham solution being the most plausible, but the Arsenal bench could also become free, as Arteta has missed all the Gunners’ season goals.”
Sarri – out of work since being sacked by Juventus last August – managed Chelsea during the 2018-19 campaign, leading the Blues to the Europa League title and EFL Cup final.
A recent report claimed that Arsenal have no plans to sack Arteta at the end of the season and are prepared to back the Spaniard with transfer funds during this summer’s window.
