Sunday, March 6th
Arsenal took three new points
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal seem to be moving away from the battle for the important fourth place in the Premier League, and on Sunday afternoon the London team took their fourth three points in a row when they defeated Watford with the numbers 3-2 on Vicarage Road.
Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli each scored for «the Gunners». Thus, the online acquaintances of Cucho Hernández and Moussa Sissoko became little more than a consolation goal for the relegation-threatened team of Roy Hodgson.
Arsenal are now one point ahead of United before Sunday’s Manchester derby. Before kick-off at the Etihad, the Reds from the capital have also played two fewer games.
Martin Buchan turns one
On this day in 1949, one of the best United stoppers of all time, Martin Buchanborn in Aberdeen.
Buchan played 456 games (1972-1983) for United, scoring four goals.
He is perhaps best remembered as captain of the team that won the FA Cup final against Liverpool in 1977, and with that prevented Liverpool from winning the triple.

Three years since the miracle in Paris
Hopefully today’s match against City will be memorable – it was at least memorable the last time we played a match on this date.
After a 0-2 loss at home to PSG, it did not look easy before the return match in Paris, but already in the second minute of the match, United struck: Marcus Rashford pushed forward a sloppy backhand that was intercepted by Romelu Lukaku, who rounded Gianluigi Buffon and put the ball in goal.
PSG equalized in the 12th minute, but after half an hour United were back in the lead: Rashford shot from 30 yards, and Buffon saved… but missed the ball, and again Lukaku was in the right place at the right time, and he put the return in goal.
United needed one more goal and it did not look like it would come, but then United got a penalty kick in overtime after a PSG hand from a Diogo Dalot shot, and Rashford put the penalty cold in goal, and sent United on to the quarterfinals in the Champions League.

Saturday, March 5th
Burglars also at Jesse Lingard
We already know that burglars broke into Victor Lindelöf’s house in January, while his wife Maja was home alone with the children.
Now write The Suns Richard Moriarty that burglars in January also broke into Jesse Lingard’s house. There they brought with them jewelery and clothes worth more than one million kroner. Lingard, like many other football players who are exposed to this, must have been traveling with United when this happened.
After the incident, Lingard is said to have put this house up for sale and also sold it.
Friday, March 4th
Cole becomes Robson’s assistant in legend fighting
Andy Cole will be Bryan Robson’s assistant manager in the legendary match against Liverpool in May. This is confirmed by United on the club’s website on Friday.
“I look forward to being part of Bryan’s coaching staff and hopefully we can help the boys win and make United fans happy,” Cole told manutd.com.
The proceeds from the legendary match between Manchester United and Liverpool go to the MU Foundation’s work with children and young people.
Wednesday 2 March
Liverpool – United exposed
Manchester United’s away match in the league against Liverpool later in March has now been postponed. This is because the date for the match was added to an FA Cup weekend, and on Wednesday night it became clear that Liverpool, who beat Norwich 2-1 on Wednesday, will now play the FA Cup instead of playing a league match against United that weekend.
Thus, United will only meet City, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid in March, before the national team break at the end of the month.

Matic and co won the training
Nemanja Matic, Alex Telles, Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelöf, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant were on the winning team at Wednesday’s training.
Matic posted this on his Instagram account on Wednesday.
It has also been noticeable throughout the season that it is Cristiano Ronaldo and Matic who are most on when it comes to celebrating these training victories.
Kondogbia injured – will he make it to the return match against United?
Geoffrey Kondogbia impressed many in midfield in Atlético Madrid’s home game against United, and was an important part of the reason why Diego Simeone’s team dominated that game.
But will he play the return match at Old Trafford?
Yesterday confirmed Atlético Madrid that the French midfielder has suffered what is described as a thigh injury, and that he starts with the rehabilitation for it.
Kondogbia is said to have felt uncomfortable towards the end of the weekend’s 2-0 win against Celta, and was therefore examined at Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
Tuesday, March 1st
United’s bosses knocked out Tottenham as well
Middlesbrough are taking on the FA Cup this season.
First they beat Mansfield (not only bad, since they have United’s Nathan Bishop in goal), then they won the penalty shootout at Old Trafford in a somewhat controversial match in the fourth round of the FA Cup, and tonight they truly beat Tottenham Hotspur also after extra innings.
Josh Coburn scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the 107th minute, and thus they did not need a penalty shootout this time.
Manchester City won 2-0 away against Peterborough United, and we obviously hope that they do not win more games against teams called United this week.
Monday, February 28th
Jesse Marsch ny Leeds-manager
Leeds fired manager Marcelo Bielsa this weekend, and now it is clear who will be his replacement. The name is Jesse Marsch, who was RB Leipzig manager until December, before he disappeared from that job.
Leeds have thus brought in a manager who was available on the market, and who had his last coaching job in Leipzig – just as United actually did with Ralf Rangnick.
American March was before that successful coach in RB Salzburg, where he had, among other things, Erling Braut Haaland.
Oliver judges, Attwell is the VAR judge
Michael Oliver will judge Sunday’s big match between City and United at the Etihad. It became clear on Monday.
At the same time, the Premier League announced that it is Stuart Attwell who will be the VAR referee. The last two times he was there, things did not go well for United.
Attwell received a lot of support from United supporters when he canceled Raphaël Varane’s heading against Burnley, and in the match before that he approved as VAR referee Middlesbrough’s hand goal which helped send United out of the FA Cup.
