The Gunners paid Brentford $3.8 million for the loan of the Spaniard, who was involved in the team’s promotion to the Premier League after more than 70 years out.

After the interest of Chelsea and Tottenham, it was finally Arsenal, the winner where Raya will seek to take ownership away from Aaron Ramsdale.

The Spaniard, who arrived at Brentford in 2019, could stay in the team led by Mikel Arteta for next summer, of course, as long as they make the purchase option effective, which amounts to 33 million dollars, which corresponds to the clause shopping.

Last season, Raya was one of the safest goalkeepers in the Premier League, having kept eleven clean sheets.

His ball-at-foot performance registered 42.1 per cent accuracy on his long passes for Brentford.

In her first interview for Arsenal’s social networks, Raya was happy about this new stage in her career, which she could not refuse.

“I am over the moon to be able to accept this challenge and step up. I am very excited for the coming season. I spoke to the coach and he conveyed to me Arsenal’s values. The club is growing more and more and that is a nice challenge that I couldn’t say no to”.

Furthermore, Raya made it clear that the decision to join Arsenal was influenced by the club’s growth prospects and the style of play implemented by Arteta.

“I have seen a lot at Arsenal over the years and since Mikel Arteta arrived he has made a difference with the style of play and at the club. The way the team plays from behind, with confidence and taking possession away from the other team, is the big reason why I can adapt to this team. I’m going to try to help as much as possible and we’ll see what happens.”
