Arsenal officially signed a new goalkeeper this summer. David Raya on loan from Brentford.
Transfer Raya was announced on the club’s official website, Tuesday (15/8/2023). The Spanish goalkeeper was contracted for a year for the Gunners on loan.
“Spain international goalkeeper David Raya has joined us from Brentford on a season-long loan,” Arsenal wrote.
Raya will be contracted for one year, with an option to make it permanent. He is given the number 22 shirt, and will become the London Gunners’ fourth signing after Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber.
“We welcome David on a season-long loan from Brentford. David is a top-quality goalkeeper, who has consistently performed at a high level with Brentford in the Premier League. With David joining, we are adding quality and depth to our squad, so that we can perform at a high level. maybe in all competitions,” said Edu, Arsenal’s sporting director.
Rumors of David Raya joining Arsenal have been circulating in recent weeks. The 27-year-old goalkeeper was brought in to compete with Aaron Ramsdale.
Last season, David Raya conceded 46 goals in 38 matches in the Premier League. The number of goals he conceded was only slightly different from Ramsdale, who picked up the ball 43 times in 38 matches in the Premier League.
Ramsdale himself could bring Arsenal to be runners up in the Premier League last season. While Raya led Brentford to finish 9th in the final standings.
