LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — After leading the Premier League for 248 days last season and missing out on the title, Arsenal is back at it.
Mikel Arteta’s team took over as leaders on Sunday after defeating Brighton 2-0.
And the London team will go to the front for their date next Saturday at Anfield after Liverpool failed to get past a 0-0 draw at home against Manchester United later in the day.

It was a great weekend for Arsenal as defending champion Manchester City unexpectedly drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz in the second half tipped the balance in Arsenal’s favor at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners lead Liverpool by one point and are five points ahead of City, which is fourth.
“It was an incredible performance. It was a pleasure to admire her from start to finish,” Arteta said. “Playing like that against a phenomenal Brighton team was incredible. “We were patient, we persevered, we had conviction and we managed to get the result we deserved.”
Against all odds, Aston Villa remains in the fight for the title.

Down 1-0 on the visit to Brentford after Keane Lewis-Potter’s goal in the first half, Unai Emery’s team came from behind to take the 2-1 victory. The expulsion of center back Ben Mee left Brentford outnumbered from the 71st minute.
Alex Moreno tied the score six minutes later and Ollie Watkins scored the winning goal in the 85th.
Villa also ended up with 10 men when Boubacar Kamara was sent off in the seventh minute of stoppage time, but the Birmingham team held on to claim their fifth win in their last six league games.
Mohammed Kudus appears to be one of the best acquisitions of the season after West Ham signed him from Ajax for $48 million in August.

The Ghanaian attacker scored a double as David Moyes’ team defeated Wolverhampton 3-0 at the London Stadium.
Kudus also scored a double midweek in the victory against Freiburg in the Europa League. He has four goals in his last five games and eight in all competitions for West Ham.
Jarrod Bowen scored the other goal, his 10th of the season.
Luton captain Tom Lockyer underwent medical tests after suffering cardiac arrest on Saturday, the club said. The defender fainted on the field during the match against Bournemouth, which was suspended.
