Nuerenberg –
Arsenal has sold out Granit Xhaka the Bayer Leverkusen. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta disclose the reasons behind the decision.
The Swiss international midfielder leaves Arsenal after the best form of his career. Xhaka successfully scored nine goals and seven assists in 47 matches in all competitions throughout 2022/2023.
Xhaka’s contribution helped to bring the London Gunners to second place in the Premier League, the club’s highest position in seven seasons. However, last season also marked the end of the gait Xhaka in North London.
Xhaka returned to Germany to play for Bayern Leverkusen after Arsenal agreed a £21.4 million transfer. Arteta revealed that the decision to sell Xhaka took into account the player’s own wishes.
“There are three parts to this,” Xhaka told the club’s website. “He has a very clear passion that this is the right time, and a great opportunity for him personally to move there.”
“We finally talked about this, then we all agreed it was the right thing to move forward.”
The Gunners just brought in Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the market this summer. Arteta emphasized that Havertz is not replacing Xhaka’s role.
“He’s not a replacement [untuk Xhaka]. He’s not going to be the same replacement because everyone is going to be very different in what Granit has given us. It will be very different, but Kai has very good qualities for the way we play.”
