Arsenal keep pressure on City in English football

A goal by Brazilian Gabriel Magalhaes in the 64th minute from a corner kick taken by Bukayo Saka gave the visitors the victory.

“I’m very happy. This is always a great derby and I’m glad we won here, it’s something we have to enjoy. It means a lot to me to score the winning goal,” Gabriel told Sky Sports television.

With the win, Arsenal moved up to 10 points, two points behind Manchester City, whose stadium they will visit next Sunday.

Newcastle, third in the table with 10 stripes, won 2-1 today against Wolverhampton (18) and Liverpool (fourth, nine points) dropped to fourth place, weighed down by their 0-1 defeat at home on Saturday against Nottingham Forest (seventh).

Harvey Barnes sealed the success for Eddie Howe’s side with a long-range goal in the 80th minute.

The home side took the lead in the first half through Mario Lamine’s goal in the 36th minute and were still leading in the 75th minute when Fabian Schar’s shot levelled the score by deflecting off Craig Dawson’s head and into the net (m. 75). Results from the fourth round:
