Arsenal Harvest Red Cards, Arteta Will Protest to the Premier League Referee Commission

Wolverhampton

Mikel Arteta still haven’t received the red card Gabriel Martinelli in the fight Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Arsenal. He wanted to ask for an explanation from the Premier League refereeing commission.

It is known, Martinelli was sent off by referee Michael Oliver through an unusual situation. He was given two yellow cards at once due to two consecutive fouls he made in one attack that Wolves built.

First, Martinelli interfered with Daniel Podence who was about to make a throw-in. Although Podence fell, the ball was successfully received by Chiquinho who immediately counterattacked. The referee decides to play on.

Then Martinelli chased Chiquinho who was running dribbling. Instead of winning the ball, the 20-year-old Brazilian player elbowed his opponent from behind. This time the referee blew the whistle.

But the referee still counted Martinelli’s first foul to Podence. The referee then gave him two straight yellow cards, so Martinelli had to leave.

Despite being outnumbered and surrounded by Wolves during the second half of the second half, Arsenal managed to maintain a 1-0 lead. But Arteta still can’t understand what happened to Martinelli.

He also confirmed that he would ask for an explanation from the Premier League refereeing commission. Moreover, this season his team often get red cards. In the last six games Arsenal have been punished four times.

“I’m not happy with the decisions we’ve had this season, but this is something I will discuss with the officials,” Arteta said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“I also need an explanation of what happened today (Martinelli’s red card). These talks will be carried out soon,” explained the Spanish manager.
