The Arsenal is interested in the goalkeeper Freddie Woodman after his impressive performances with Swansea City in The Championship of this season.
The 23-year-old, who has been capped at various youth levels from England through U21, has been outstanding on Steve Cooper’s side, helping them reach fourth place in the English second division, seeking promotion to the Premier League.
However, with the team just one point from the automatic promotion slots, with two games in hand, they will hope to secure a return to the Premier League without the need for play-offs.
And Woodman has been key to his success, appearing in all but one game since coming on loan from Newcastle.
However, it remains to be seen where the long-term future of the plug lies, as the Newcastle Chronicle has affirmed that the Gunners are one of several teams monitoring Woodman.
Either way, it looks like the Welsh team is going to have trouble bringing the goalkeeper back for a third period at Liberty Stadium, although it may be possible if they succeed.
A goalkeeper for the rotation
Woodman has conceded just 18 goals in 28 league games, four of them in yesterday’s loss at Huddersfield.
Anyone who has seen Woodman play this season will see that he is a great talent, so it is not surprising that Arsenal are aware of his situation.
It would be a surprise if Newcastle were willing to let him go, but right now they have a lot of options in goal.
As for Swansea, they will just be glad to have the goalkeeper for this season, and they may hope to review a deal for him as a Premier League club in the summer.
