After almost three months without a home win in the Premier League convinced the FC arsenal at 2-0 (2-0) against a disappointing one ManUnited, Nicolas Pepé (8th) and Sokratis (43rd) scored the goals on New Year’s Day. The “Gunners” seemed surprisingly confident, even though they had only won one win from the last 15 games across all competitions.
Arsenal’s new coach, Mikel Arteta, took the first win in the third game. As announced, the Spaniard also bet against Manchester on Mesut Özil, with whom he had played for three years as a midfield player at Arsenal. Özil had only played a supporting role at the beginning of the season and was only allowed to play once in the first ten games.

The early goal, however, was a co-production of two other former Bundesliga professionals: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sead Kolasinac used a defensive error on the left side, so that Kolasinac could fit free-standing in front of the goal. With a little luck, the ball landed at Pepé, who shot in without any problems.
Kolasinac valuable, Leno to zero
The ex-Schalke Kolasinac was subsequently involved in many dangerous actions, but later had to be struck by the field (69.). arsenal controlled the game, had a clear chance plus and bad luck with Pepés post shot. Shortly before the break, former Dortmund central defender Sokratis kicked the ball into the net after a corner from close range – the 2-0 half-time lead was well deserved.
After the change, Arsenal left the guests with significantly more game shares, initially barely finishing. Manchester had some chances, but also Bernd Leno in “Gunners”-Tor got a good day. The ex-Leverkusen player played to zero, which Arsenal had only managed three times in the current Premier League season.
Now FA Cup for both teams
Enlarged by victory arsenal the lead on relegation ranks to seven points and pushes four points closer to Manchester. United is in fifth place and thus on a Europa League place, but is already five points behind the Champions League place fourth.
