Arsenal FC is currently said to be on the lookout for another striker. The Gunners are said to have targeted ex-Bayern talent Joshua Zirkzee.
The 22-year-old is currently under contract with FC Bologna and is one of the best offensive players in the Italian Serie A this season.
Top performers in Bologna
With ten goals and four assists in 28 league games, the Dutchman has played a large part in Bologna’s current position in the table.
ÖFB legionnaire Stefan Posch’s team is currently in fourth place and is therefore competing for the Champions League places.
As the Italian transfer expert and journalist Nicolo Schira has now reported, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta in particular is said to be a big fan of Zirkzee and has identified him as one of the main targets in the coming transfer summer.
Bavaria has a buyback option
According to Schira, there have already been initial discussions with the 22-year-old’s agent, who celebrated his breakthrough at FC Bayern Munich.
It is also the German record champions who could thwart the Londoners’ plans – the Munich-based team is said to have a buyback option worth 40 million euros. Whether this is actually drawn could also depend on the new coach.
Would be a record exit
In any case, a transfer would make the striker one of his club’s record departures.
The current highest value is held by the Italian Simone Verdi, who moved to Napoli in 2018 for a transfer fee of 24.50 million euros.
