Two years have passed, since the “Arsenāls” exhibition hall was closed for renovation, and thus the viewer has lost an insight into the pages of the history of recent Latvian art. That’s why we get to know it by looking at the “Arsenal” collection, where we talk about color madness in the paintings of Jānis Pauļuks, find out how the events of 1968 in Prague influenced the themes of Džemma Skulme’s works, look for a sense of Latvian nature in the paintings of Līga Purmale and the coded, taboo themes in the installations of Viļnias Zāber.
