Arsenal Beats Defensa y Justicia 1-0: Latest Match Summary and Relegation Update

Arsenal, which could become the first relegated to the Primera Nacional next weekend, beat Defensa y Justicia 1-0 at home today, continuing the seventh date of the Professional League Cup of Football (LPF).

The only goal was scored by Juan Bautista Cejas, 52 minutes into the first half, from a penalty.

Arsenal reached six points in the championship – it occupies last place in the general table and in the averages – and will be relegated if Instituto gets four points – it has not played this date yet.

Defensa y Justicia suffered a fall that leaves it at the limit of the four classified in Zone B and could lose its place in the classification for the next Libertadores if Boca wins the Superclásico against River.

Arsenal presented the football limitations that led it to be practically condemned to relegation – it could lose the category the next date – and barely worried Defensa y Justicia with a header from Joaquín Pombo in the first part of the match.

For its part, Defensa y Justicia, which put a mix between starters and substitutes thinking about the semi-final return with Liga de Quito for the Sudamericana, was noted to be physically resentful and lost its usual speed in offensive transitions.

The worst news for the visitor came when defender Julián Malatini asked for a change due to muscle pain and joined the injured Nicolás “Uvita” Fernández and Gabriel Alanís for the return against the Ecuadorians, who are 3-0 up in the Serie.

The local reaction only appeared at the end of the initial stage, although in different situations they collided with the figure of Enrique Bologna in the “Halcón” goal.

The prize for Arsenal came at the end after a penalty by Dylan Gissi on Pombo, which Cejas finished off with force to convert it into a goal.

In the complement, Arsenal was organized in defense, despite the arrivals of the reliefs in Defense and Justice such as Gastón Togni, Lucas Pratto and Nicolás Tripicchio -three starters-, and maintained the advantage.

On the next date, Arsenal will host Banfield and Defensa will visit Lanús.
