Arsenal beat Tottenham in the London Derby and stretched their lead at the top

By the 20th date of the Premier League, Arsenalin a key step for the title fight, took over the London Derby by winning as a visitor for 2-0 ante Tottenham Hotspur.

The development of the first half was even until 14 minutes in, when Hugo Lloris missed and ended up putting a shot from Bukayo Saka into his own goal that had no net destination. From there, the Gunners dominated the game until half time.

It is true that Spurs almost tied the game at 17′, when Aaron Ramsdale, with a great performance, blocked a one-on-one against Son Heung-Min. Anyway, the rest of the initial stage belonged to the visiting team.

At 21′, Odegaard, with time and space, tested from medium distance and forced a good save from Lloris. At 24′, Thomas Partey unleashed a powerful volley that crashed into the post, almost at the height of the angle.

Finally, with another attempt from outside the area, the visit stretched the difference on the scoreboard at 35′: Odegaard found the hole again and in this case he fired a low, crossed left-footed shot that was unattackable by the French goalkeeper.

Before halftime, perhaps as an announcement of what would happen in the complement, Ramsdale had to intervene to reject a header from Harry Kane. The script of the match changed in the second half, in which the locals took the initiative and cornered the rival.

Dejan Kulusevski, whose performance went from low to high, created the first chance of the period with his signature shot from the right, which went just wide. In addition, at 51′, Ramsdale excelled by covering another one-on-one, this time against Ryan Sessegnon.

Those led by Antonio Conte maintained their dominance, but they were not fine in the definition to get the discount. Those of Mikel Arteta, for their part, withdrew and tried to settle the counterattack lawsuit. At 69′, Lloris denied Eddie Nketiah the third.

In the final stretch, the locals persisted in their search for discount, although without improving their aim in the area, so they were left empty-handed despite the fact that they deserved to score at least one goal.

With this result, Arsenal, who took advantage of Manchester City’s stumble against Manchester United, stretched the difference to eight points. Tottenham could not come close to the top and was fifth, 14 points behind its historic opponent.
