Arsenal took three heavy points against Liverpool.

A huge blunder decided the big meeting at the Emirates Stadium.

– Congratulations, Arsenal. They were better than us today, says Jürgen Klopp.

Liverpool’s unbeaten streak of 15 games is broken.

Arsenal dominated the big meeting from start to finish and took the lead in the 14th minute through Bukayo Saka.

But just before the break, the equalizer came after a blunder in the Arsenal defense which resulted in Gabriel accidentally knocking the ball – with his hand – into his own net.

Big mistake and red card

In the second half Liverpool invited back.

Gabriel hit a long ball towards fellow countryman and namesake Gabriel Martinelli, Virgil van Dijk tried to cover whereupon goalkeeper Alisson Becker rushed out – and got into the situation completely wrong.

Whoops, Martinelli had an open goal and scored 2–1.

In the 88th minute, Ibrahima Konaté received his second yellow card and was sent off, so the pursuit of an equalizer came to an end.

Instead, Leandro Trossard was able to determine the final score 3–1.

– Arsenal were better than us today. We have to play better than this, it’s quite obvious, says Jürgen Klopp BBC.

Tight at the top

Liverpool still top the table on 51 points.

Arsenal are second on 49.

But third-placed Manchester City – who stand on 46 points – have two games to spare and could soon take over the league lead.

– We expect City to win their games, but it doesn’t change anything for us. We have to win our games, then we’ll see how far it goes, says Klopp.
