Riqui Puig is wanted by many European clubs in January as they look to strengthen in the second half of the season.
Aware that the midfielder is not wanted by Ronald Koeman and of how little he’s playing at Barcelona, both Arsenal and AC Milan have shown an interest.
Reports in England say Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has asked for the club’s owners to make an effort to sign Puig on loan next month.
Arteta wants to add creativity to his side and believes Puig, 21, would be a good addition in that regard after the club failed to sign Houssem Aouar in the summer.
Arsenal have tacked Puig for a long time and he could be a good loan signing in January.
AC Milan
But Arsenal are not the only big club interested in the youngster. In Italy, there are also reports that Serie A leaders Milan want Puig, who is out of contract in the summer.
Milan would ask to Puig on loan, as long as the player is willing to leave temporarily — remember in the summer he didn’t want to go.
For now, there are no negotiations ongoing, but Riqui Puig’s name is going to be ever-present throughout January.
The Spain U21 international is yet to start a game under coach Koeman and has been limited to a handful of appearances off the bench.
