Arroyo de la Luz is enjoying a few days dedicated to the guitar thanks to the town’s III International Guitar Festival, which began yesterday Saturday with a performance by renowned international artist Ricardo Gallén.
Within the cycle of 6 concerts that will take place this year, tonight it will be the turn of Markel Intxaurbe and Joanna Kazoglou, winners of the 2022 ‘Ángel Iglesias’ contest. The event will begin at 9:00 p.m., in the Corral de Comedias, with Free entrance, until capacity is completed.
During the concert, Markel will offer several pieces by composers such as Franz Schubert, Johann Sebastian Back, Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco, Agustín Barrios, Astor Piazzolla and Isaac Albéniz).
For her part, Ioanna will perform compositions by J. Rodrigo, J. Turina, D. Aguado, K. Vassiliev and three Spanish pieces by J. Rodrigo (Fandango, passacaglia and zapateado).

Markel Intxaurbe was born in Bilbao in 2007. He started music at the age of 9 at the Bilbao Music School (Bilbaomusika). The following year he entered the Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga Conservatory (Bilbao), where he began his official guitar studies with Professor Jesús Melchor, with whom he is currently studying the third year of Professional Education.
He has received advanced classes from internationally renowned guitarists such as David Russell, Miguel Trápaga, Ricardo Gallén, Pedro Mateo González, Anabel Montesinos, Laura Verdugo del Rey, Marco Socias and Alex Garrobé.
He has obtained numerous prizes in national and international competitions, the most outstanding being; First prize II Raimundo International Guitar Competition (Valencia) Category C (2019); First prize XV International Competition ‘Anna Amalia-Young Guitarrist’ (Weimar-Germany) 2021; First prize in the Young Guitarists’ Interpretation Contest Francisco Calleja 2021′ (Logroño) Category A (2021); First prize in the Young Musicians of the Basque Country Competition, Category B (up to 15 years old) (2021), among many others.
Ioanna Kazoglou took her first guitar lessons at age 7 with Sonia Charalambidou. In 2013 she began guitar classes in Loukia Samourka’s class at the Higher School of Music in Thessaloniki (Greece), from where she obtained her diploma in January 2019 with the highest marks. As of October 2021 she studies at the ‘Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar’ with Professor Ricardo Gallén.
Ioanna has won first prize at the First Thessaloniki Guitar Festival in 2014 (Category A); at the Second Thessaloniki Guitar Festival in 2015 (Category B); at the 27 Patras Guitar Festival in 2018 (Category B) or at the Andrés Segovia International Competition in Monheim 2021 (in the second age group), among many others.
He has attended master classes with Rolan Dyens, David Russell, Oscar Ghiglia, Aniello Desiderio, Zoran Dukic, Marcin Dylla, Judicaël Perroy, Marco Tamayo, Alvaro Pierri, Margarita Escarpa, Jorgos Panetsos, Gabriel Bianco, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Lukasz Kuropaczewski, Roberto Aussel and others.
Ioanna has given numerous recitals, including the Athens Concert Hall in November 2019 as a prize of the ‘Art Campus Delphi 2019, Thessaloniki Concert Hall in September 2021, in Wuppertal at the HFMT Koeln in December 2021 (invitation as young talent), in Slovenia in July 2022, in Vienna in August 2022 and in Mallorca in October 2022.
