Arriving in Edapal at night on a blue scooter, sneaking into the bathroom, and a list of horrific thefts; Accused in custody

Malapuram: The thief who used to sneeze and steal in the bathroom has been caught. Ribin Raj (Sean Raj-34) was caught by the Ponnani police after getting Marangeri Kanjiramuk 10. Police said he is accused in several theft cases. In the past few days, there have been night thefts and hoax sightings in Perumbaram Polpakara, Parappuram, Kaladi and Kavilpadi areas of Edappal. The residents of the area were afraid because it was a common practice to open the windows of the houses and steal the gold ornaments of the sleeping women and children and to look in the bathrooms etc.

As part of the police investigation into the accused, information about the accused was obtained when the CCTV footage was examined. The police had received a tip that the thief was a man who arrived on a blue scooter with the rear light off. After this, the jewelery of the child who was sleeping in the house in Kavilpadi was stolen through the window and the family members woke up when the robbery was attempted in another house. With this, the accused ran away. In the meantime, Ribin Raj hid the scooter that he had brought with him in the nearby bushes as he had lost the key to the scooter. Later, he stole a bullet bike from Prakash’s house in the area and left the place.

Police obtained more information about the suspect during the investigation of the abandoned scooter. After the robbery, the accused Ribin Raj went into hiding in Bengaluru, Palani and various places in Ernakulam and settled in Chalakudy, Thrissur. On getting the information, the police reached Chalakudy but the accused escaped. Later, the accused, who was hiding in the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, reached Edapal. He stole the bullet kept at Edapal hospital complex and went through it. The stolen bikes were later found abandoned in Edapal’s premises. As the police deepened the investigation, the accused surrendered in the Ponnani court.

Police said that during interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing jewelery worth three pavans from Polpakara Rejoy’s child, one and a half pavans from Yamuna near Parappuram Kaladi municipal office, three and half pavans from Kavilpadi Anilkumar’s child, and pavans and a half from a child at home near Kaladi village office. The accused also admitted that he stole the bullet bikes that were parked at the old Edapall block house and at the Edapall hospital. During questioning, the accused also admitted the crimes of defamation by looking through the windows and bathrooms of several houses.
