The Railway Authority is investigating a very dangerous situation that has occurred on the Arriva train. In one of the wagons on the line from Liberec to Pardubice, the door could not be closed due to a fault, but the train still set off on the track. The staff only provided access to the open door with tape, so the set was not to be started at all.
An unsecured door of a moving train was visible on the record. Only a temporary tape prevented a possible accident. Even according to the sign on the door, the train crew knew about the technical failure. Nevertheless, the set is in motion.
“Safety first … In the summer, when the unit does not have air conditioning or opening windows, I would not be surprised. But in the winter? What if the child fell off the train again?” one of the discussants asked on social networks. It happened last Wednesday morning on a route that lasts almost three hours.
It was an express train from Liberec to Pardubice. The railway workers allegedly managed to correct the defect. On Sunday, the guides took better care of securing the door and checked them all before leaving. But that was not the case last week and the company is already finding out why.
“We are investigating the reason why they were ajar, even though according to our records they should have been locked and properly marked with tape and information about the failure,” said Arriva spokesman Jan Holub. The Railway Authority will also be interested in whether it is a technical failure or a human failure.
“We will invite the carrier to provide an explanation. After that, we will consider possible further steps,” said Pavlína Straková, a spokeswoman for the Railway Authority. Four years ago, passengers on the train on the route Prague – České Budějovice or people traveling from Pilsen to Prague were also lucky that nothing happened.
On the contrary, many remember the tragedy that happened in 2016 near Olomouc. A two-year-old girl fell out of the expressway due to a poorly closed door.
