Arrival of Covid-19 Booster Vaccines for Elderly and High-Risk Individuals in Baja California

Tijuana.-In mid-October, a booster batch of Covid-19 vaccines for the elderly population is expected to arrive in Baja California, indicated Adrián Medina Amarillas, head of the state’s Ministry of Health.

“The offer that the federal Ministry of Health made to us is that it would arrive from the second half of October, from October 16, that date continues, they have not notified us of any changes,” he mentioned.

Medina Amarillas added that this batch of vaccines is intended not only for older adults, but also for people under 60 years of age who have a chronic disease or an immunological disability.

“It will be used as a booster, nothing more, it will not be a mass vaccination as it was before, as we were immersed in the pandemic, now this vaccine would be used as a booster for high-risk people,” he declared.

The head of the Ministry of Health in the state added that a batch of influenza vaccines will also be arriving, this as part of the vaccination campaigns to prevent respiratory diseases.

Given the spike in Covid-19 cases in the entity, on August 30 the agency began a vaccination campaign for minors, between 5 and 11 years old, so that they could receive the biological reinforcement.
