There was an incident with Hamburger SV football fans while traveling by train to the top second division game at Fortuna Düsseldorf. According to the Bremen Federal Police Inspectorate, there was an altercation on a regional train shortly after departure from the train station in Bremen. The train was stopped in Kirchweyhe. There were delays in rail traffic from Bremen. The operation lasted a total of three hours.
Accordingly, there was a dispute between fans and other travelers. A 23-year-old woman suffered a head injury and various bruises, and her companion, who was two years older, suffered a burst eyebrow. The man then sprayed a fire extinguisher to defend himself. According to the announcement, the regional express was suspended due to the damage at Kirchweyhe train station. The two injured people were taken to hospital.
HSV fans no longer go to Düsseldorf
Since it was not known who or how many people were involved in the altercation and whether anyone else involved and witnesses would identify themselves, the identities of the passengers in the affected coach and those of the HSV fans were determined, the Bremen Federal Police Inspectorate said . The approximately 370 HSV fans decided to return to Hamburg after the end of the game. So they couldn’t experience their team’s 3-0 win in Düsseldorf.
Fanhilfe Nordtribüne criticized the measures and wrote on X (formerly Twitter) about an “excessive police operation”. This led to the suspension of train services. Not only did the fans affected by the measure miss the game in Düsseldorf, “but also many other HSV fans who wanted to travel by other trains.”
