Arrests Made During Songkran Festival in Kowloon City: YouTuber and Others Charged with Assaulting Police Officers and Reporters

During the Songkran Festival in Kowloon City to celebrate the Thai New Year in April this year, YouTuber “Yang Dog” Tsang Wai-shing and three other men were suspected of shooting water at six police officers and TVB reporters on Shingnan Road and were arrested afterwards. The three people were charged with 6 counts of assaulting a police officer and common assault. The case was brought to court for the first time this morning at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts. The defense requested that the defendant not need to plead, and the case was adjourned to December 1 to wait for the defense to request legal documents. During this period, each defendant was granted a cash bail of NT$20,000 and was not allowed to leave Hong Kong. He was required to live at the reported address and report to the police station every day.

The defendants are 26-year-old taxi driver Tsang Wai-shing, 26-year-old clerk Yip Ka-kin, and 31-year-old adult products businessman Yuen Chi-kin. They are also accused of assaulting an officer on the Shingnan Road between Chia Ping-tat Road and Nga Tsin Wai Road in Kowloon City on April 9 this year. The police officers on duty, namely Auxiliary Police Constables 6553 and 8591 and Female Auxiliary Police Constable 6605, as well as the assault men Wu Jiaxuan and Li Tianyao; Zeng Weicheng and Yuan Zijian were again charged with assaulting the man Tan Yongwen on the same day and at the same place.
