Arrests and sound equipment seized after illegal rave in Gelders village

At the end of an illegal party in the Gelderland village of Rijswijk, the police seized twelve vehicles with, among other things, generating sets and sound equipment. At least three people have also been arrested for driving under the influence or not following the instructions of the police.

Acting mayor Josan Meijers of the municipality of Buren says she is happy that the illegal party has come to an end. “I can imagine that residents still have questions and I’ll get back to that tomorrow,” she says on Twitter. She previously called the party “not appropriate in the corona crisis”.

Empty factory

The party started last night around 10 p.m. in one of the sheds of the empty brick factory Roodvoet on the Lower Rhine. Soon there were hundreds of visitors from home and abroad. The foreign festival-goers mainly came from Belgium and France, but also Germans, Italians and Spaniards had found their way to Rijswijk. They parked their cars, campers and vans both on the site of the brick factory itself and on the narrow river embankment.

They said they were informed about the party through the media.
