In an international police action against a cocaine syndicate led from Brazil, 45 people have been arrested. According to Europol, this is the greatest blow to the international cocaine trade ever dealt.
38 suspects were arrested in Brazil, four in Belgium, two in Dubai and one in Spain. Two house searches were also conducted in the Netherlands. More than a thousand agents took part in the campaign in Portugal, Belgium, Romania and Dubai, among others.
According to Europol, the gang was responsible for the transport of at least 45 tons of cocaine per year. The profit is estimated at a whopping 100 million euros in six months.
The drugs went to important European seaports such as Antwerp and Rotterdam. In total, 52 tons of drugs were intercepted. Millions of euros in cash, vehicles and houses have also been seized.
