NEW YORK – A Long Island boutique owner has been accused of selling billions of dollars worth of fake designer items. Nassau County Police said Lindsay Castelli, 31, who had surrendered the day before, was arrested.
During an investigation in April, thousands of fake labels and various types of clothing and jewelry were found in their boutiques. During the October 4 inspection, police found 22 counterfeit printing machines and products bearing the labels of global fashion brands. Over $ 40 million worth of counterfeit products from various brands were seized during the inspection. Police found that these counterfeit products were distributed throughout the United States.
Police said the $ 3 hat sold for $ 300 with a fake tag. A $ 10 jacket sold for $ 5,300 with a fake sticker. Lindsay has defrauded many people in different parts of the country. The police closed the boutique.
