Arrested six individuals who transported drugs from Murcia to Ireland through the port of Bilbao | Radio Bilbao

Six individuals, between 34 and 62 years of age, have been detained by the Murcia Civil Guard in the framework of the ‘Ramasa’ operation, accused of being part of a criminal organization that allegedly trafficked drugs between Murcia and Ireland, through the port of Bilbao.

The operation is framed in the ‘Miller’ service order, which the meritorious has active, at the state level, to develop the ‘Police Response Plan to the illegal cultivation and trafficking of marijuana and the benefits thereof’, as reported by the Ministry of Interior.

Parallel to the development of the operation, members of the Benemérita together with Customs detected a shipment of drugs hidden among lettuces in the port of Bilbao. A large articulated vehicle intended to board a ferry bound for Ireland was inspected.

After the exhaustive inspection, a considerable number of packages were found hidden among some containers of lettuce. These packages contained vacuum packed marijuana that yielded a total weight of 161 kilograms.

That same day, in the port of Bilbao, on the same ferry where the truck with the marijuana was to be shipped, among the trucks returning to Spain, part of which were controlled by a Civil Guard device, it was found in the Cabin of a truck 116,000 euros in cash that had passed the customs inspection point without declaring. The money was seized by Customs for lack of declaration. The money would supposedly come from the collection of a previous drug shipment.

The interventions of the port of Bilbao coincided with the components of the criminal group of the ongoing operation of the Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, verifying the relationship of both trucks and their drivers with the Fortuna company.

Once all the necessary indications have been obtained, with prior judicial authorization, the Civil Guard has carried out the entry and registration of two properties in the Region of Murcia, in the Murcian municipalities of Ceutí and Fortuna, and another La Zenia-Orihuela (Alicante), where abundant documentation related directly to road transport was seized, as well as a kilogram of hashish resin arranged in acorns and hidden in a safe in one of the houses.
