Last night, the police arrested a motorist who still had an amount of more than 1.5 million euros outstanding at the Central Judicial Collection Agency.
The man drove into the Netherlands from Belgium via the A76 and was noticed by an automatic license plate recognizer. The police went after the man and stopped him.
The man had according to 1Limburg a so-called confiscation measure. A judge will impose such a measure if money is not earned in a fair way, but for example through fraud or the sale of narcotics. That money must be paid back.
The driver had previously been told by the judge that he would go to jail for 1080 days if he did not pay. He has to serve that sentence now. It is not known why the man has to pay back so much money.
