The police in Nordland report on Sunday morning that a man in his 50s has been brought in and placed under arrest for drunkenness.
The man is said to have entered the backstage area of Parkenfestivalen on repeated occasions and supplied himself with alcohol.
When those working at the festival were unable to get him away from the area, the police were contacted.
– He was unable to speak, and we had little faith that he would change his behaviour. That is why we chose to put him in custody.
This is what operations manager in the police, Ivar Bo Nilsson, tells Avisa Nordland.
He describes the man’s behavior as threatening.
– He has been a problem all morning, says Nilsson.
According to Gøran Aamodt at Parkenfestivalen, the man must have first gone to sleep on a sofa backstage.
– Then we asked him to leave the area. A little later he came back and slept at Parkscena instead. A situation like that can quickly escalate, so we called the police, he says.
According to Aamodt, the situation was undramatic.
– The police were very good with him. It wasn’t a big theft he did with us either. He only drank slops from beer cans.
