Without trying to hide his past, he had redone his virginity on social networks, presenting himself as a specialist in local geopolitics. In Istanbul, he explains frequenting a think tank, the “Toran Center for strategic studies”, defining himself, according to a document posted on Facebook, as “researcher specializing in Syrian affairs”, especially for questions of “security and terrorism” . He does not hide the fact that he was “deeply involved in the Syrian revolution”.

It is from Istanbul that he applies under his true identity for the issuance of a visa to study in France. He then wrote a letter of motivation for the Institute for Research on the Arab and Muslim World (Iremam) at the University of Aix-Marseille, which reports to the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). He obtains the sesame valid from November 5, 2019. “A short stay visa” was issued “on the basis of a complete file”, confirmed this Thursday the spokesperson of the Quai d’Orsay, which specifies that the “Competent ministerial services”, in this case those of the Interior, were previously consulted.
