The High Court of London has issued an arrest warrant for the ex-wife of the Russian oligarch Arkady Rotenberg, Natalia. The decision stems from the fact that she did not appear in court to consider the claim of the law firm Candey.
Judge Andrew Ritchie had previously sentenced her to three weeks in prison. She had the opportunity to avoid imprisonment when she appeared in court, but this did not happen. Candey’s representatives in court argued that the defendant was ignoring court orders and the company’s attempts to contact her.
Candey is trying to collect 11.5 thousand pounds. It is alleged that the defendant did not pay them, refusing the services of lawyers who represented her interests in the divorce. The court initially sided with the wife, but upon reconsideration, the lawyers failed to prove that the property registered to the offshore company belongs to the Russian oligarch.
According to The Telegraph, in 2022, Natalia Rotenberg had her £8.7m flat in London confiscated for failing to make mortgage payments.
