“Arrest Warrant for Putin at BRICS Summit in South Africa: Oppositionists Demand Permission from Court”

Oppositionists say that the court should give permission for the dictator’s arrest “if Putin’s foot sets foot on the soil of South Africa.”

Arrest warrant for Putin and his arrival at the summit

The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. In this regard, Pretoria, where the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit will be held in August, should arrest him upon arrival.

But in South Africa, where they first asked Putin not to come and participate in the summit via Zoom, they later said they were thinking about a law that would give the Russian dictator so-called “immunity” so that he could come.

On Monday, the South African government granted immunity delegates who are expected to attend the BRICS Ministerial Meeting in Cape Town on 1 and 2 June and the BRICS Summit from 22 to 24 August. The summit is expected to be attended by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The South African government said participants would be granted immunity under the Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act. At the moment, South Africa is already preparing changes to the relevant laws and wants to introduce them into the relevant acts before the summit.
