Mariam Abou Daqqa, Palestinian feminist activist was supposed to go to Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) then Albi (Tarn) to host conference debates but she was arrested this Monday, October 16 in Marseille. She is threatened with expulsion for “disturbing public order”.
After being banned from the National Assembly, Mariam Abou Daqqa was to give conferences throughout France throughout the month of October to talk about the living conditions of the Palestinians. A tour of France of around fifteen dates planned before the Hamas attacks on Israel.
The Palestinian woman was arrested in Marseille this Monday, October 16, 2023 just before taking a train towards Toulouse where she was to host a conference at the Utopia cinema in Borderouge. This philosopher sparked controversy a week ago for holding conferences while she is a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), an organization classified as terrorist by the European Union.
“The evening was initially to be held at the Bagatelle neighborhood center but the Toulouse town hall refused. The Utopia cinema in Borderouge agreed to welcome us. Even without the arrival of Mariam Abou Daqqa, we are maintaining the event” explains Loïc Cwiek, from the Solidarité Palestine Toulouse association.
Thursday October 12, 2023, during a rally in support of Israel at the Judaism space in Toulouse, the mayor of Toulouse warned:
I wrote to those responsible for these meetings to ask them to cancel these meetings which in themselves represent an unacceptable provocation but which, in the current context, present an additional danger, that of creating disturbances to public order. And I told them that if ever they did not take their responsibilities by canceling these meetings, well I would turn to the State, to the prefect, to request their ban.

Mariam Abou Daqqa was arrested around 6:30 a.m. in Marseille for “disturbing public order”. She is in question for holding her conferences, as well as for having carried the banner “Palestine will conquer” during demonstrations banned by the prefecture.
After Toulouse, the Palestinian activist was to go to Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) and Albi (Tarn). Invited by France Palestine Solidarité, she was expected this Thursday at the CGT premises in Albi. An arrival contested by certain elected officials. Bernard Carayon, LR mayor of Lavaur and regional councilor of Occitanie asked the ban on this public meeting Who “constitutes a threat to public order and incitement to hatred against the Jews of Israel and France.”
Contacted by France 3 Occitanie, Danielle Boulet of the France Palestine Solidarité Tarn association does not understand these requests for bans.
I am shocked, saddened, scared. She is not a terrorist, she is not affiliated with Hamas. She is a secularist. The government is setting fire to the territory by banning rallies in support of the Palestinian people.
Danielle Boulet, France Palestine solidarity association Tarn
