Arrest of Man in Indonesia for Alleged Insult of Prophet Muhammad and Support for Israel in Palestine

Police arrested Lukman Dolok Saribu (57), a resident of Sorong, West Papua because his video allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad and asking Israel to massacre Indonesians in Palestine went viral. This is what Lukman looked like when he was arrested.

Reported detikNorth Sumatra, Monday (27/11/2023) there were two photos received by detikSumut regarding Lukman’s arrest. The first photo shows Lukman wearing a yellow long-sleeved shirt, flanked by two policemen. They were photographed against the backdrop of the Toba Police Integrated Police Service Center.

Meanwhile, in the second photo, Lukman is wearing prison clothes with his hands cuffed with cable ties. Lukman, who was photographed against the backdrop of the Toba Police Criminal Investigation Unit, also showed a cellphone showing his viral video.

Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi, said that Lukman had been arrested in Toba Regency. “We have detained the person concerned in the Toba area, North Sumatra,” said Hadi, Monday (27/11/2023).

The middle police officer himself has not provided further details about the case. He said the perpetrator is currently still undergoing an examination process at the North Sumatra Police. However, Hadi said the case was reported by the Deputy Chair of the North Sumatra Ansor Youth Movement, Dedi Hermanto Sitorus, to the North Sumatra Police on Sunday (26/11).
