Kozhikode – The husband’s mother has been arrested in the case of a young woman hanging herself at her husband’s house in Kunnummakkara. Onchiyam Nellacheri Illath Dhakkunni Nabisa (60) was arrested. The accused was remanded till December 28. Nabisa was transferred to the women’s jail in Mananthavadi. It is said in the remand report that Nabisa’s beating and domestic violence made Shabna commit suicide.
Nabisa was taken into custody from a lodge in Kozhikode this morning. After recording the arrest and conducting a medical examination, the accused was produced before the court. Nabisa filed an anticipatory bail application in the District Sessions Court. The police made the arrest while the case was to be heard on Friday. The police had earlier arrested Shabna’s husband Habib’s uncle Hanifa in the case. Hanifa is currently in judicial custody. Father-in-law Mahmood Haji and sister Hafsat are to be arrested in the case.
