Arrest of Car Theft Suspect in Beirut and Mount Lebanon

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces announced, in a statement, that “within the framework of the daily follow-up carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat various crimes, and after the thefts from inside cars increased within the governorates of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, orders were given to detect and arrest the perpetrator. Accordingly, the Division intensified The information carried out its procedures, and it determined the identity of the suspect in carrying out dozens of thefts from inside cars, and he is called: A. Sh. (born in 1972, Lebanese), who has a history of theft crimes from inside cars, and he was released about a month ago, and upon his release from prison, he returned to practice His criminal activity, so he goes out daily from his house in the suburb with a tool in his hand to use in his operations, and monitors citizens’ cars parked on the roadsides within the perimeter of the suburb, breaking their windows and stealing whatever is available to him from inside.”

And it revealed that “after careful monitoring and control, one of the patrols of the Information Division was able to arrest him in a lightning operation at the airport road. By searching him, he seized the iron piece that he used to carry out thefts, and by interrogating him, he confessed to what was attributed to him, in terms of carrying out dozens of thefts from inside Cars after their windows were broken, from the areas of: Airport Road, Bir Hassan, St. Therese, Shatila and the surrounding areas.

The General Directorate reminded citizens of the need to take precautions and not leave items (bags, cell phones, electronic devices…) inside their cars, so that their windows are not broken and their interior stolen.
