Two Tawang Jaya train passengers experienced an incident theft of iPads and laptops in cars the fire. This incident went viral after the passenger concerned told about the theft on his social media account.
Now, the perpetrator of the theft has been arrested by the police. Check out the complete information below.
A premium executive passenger on the 1 10A Tawang Jaya train admitted that he had lost his iPad. The passenger shared his story via the X account @goya***.
“Good evening, @KAI121 today I experienced the theft of an item in the form of an iPad on the Tawang Jaya Premium executive train 1 10A with a travel time of 21.46-04.17,” wrote on his X account.
The passenger also said that another passenger had also lost his laptop. Passengers wanted to check the CCTV footage directly to find out the perpetrator.
This incident happened to passengers on the Tawang Jaya Premium train connecting Semarang Poncol-Pasar Senen on Saturday (14/10/2023). The theft is suspected to have occurred while traveling on the Tawang Jaya Premium train from Semarang to Pasar Senen.
When passing through Cikarang Station, officers received reports from two passengers who each lost their iPad and laptop.
2. The perpetrator was recorded on CCTV
Two Tawang Jaya train passengers had their iPads and laptops stolen. The victim then asked KAI to check the CCTV.
KAI then checked the CCTV when the train was in Jakarta. However, because it required further observation time, CCTV monitoring was continued when the train was in Semarang.
KAI security officers began to find bright spots in the theft case. Next, officers coordinated with the relevant police.
“After continuing the investigation in Semarang, there has been a bright spot. The perpetrator can be seen on CCTV footage and we are still investigating. Next, we are coordinating with the police for further investigation,” said KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus.
From the CCTV camera, footage was obtained showing the two perpetrators taking the victim’s bag which was under the passenger seat. The bag was then taken to the landing and the laptop was replaced with a book the size of a laptop and the zipper of the bag was glued.
After that, the perpetrator returned the bag to its original place and the perpetrator sat back in his seat. According to the analysis, the perpetrator also took the passenger’s iPad by passing under the seat.
KAI also immediately implemented closed security at departure stations, especially at Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng Station, Semarang Poncol Station, Bekasi Station and Pasarsenen Station to arrest the perpetrators.
3. KAI apologizes
PT KAI allowed the theft of iPads and laptops on the Tawang Jaya Premium train. For this incident, KAI also apologized.
“KAI expresses its deepest apologies for the incident experienced by Tawang Jaya Premium train passengers,” said KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus in a written statement.
“KAI will continue to improve the security system both on trains and at stations. We also appeal to all passengers to always look after their personal belongings. To passengers, please place valuable luggage in a safe place that is easy to monitor,” said Joni.
