Arrest Made in Oslo Murder Case: Man to be Produced for Remand

The man, who is in his late 40s, will be produced for remand in Oslo District Court on Friday afternoon.

He is charged with a murder that was committed in Oslo last May, but was arrested on Wednesday this week, police prosecutor Hilde Hermanrud Strand told Dagbladet.

Beyond that, Strand does not wish to make any comment until the prison meeting has ended.

Defense attorney Gunhild Bergan does not wish to comment on the case for the time being. It is therefore unclear how the man stands up to the murder charge.

– Broad and comprehensive

Mette Yvonne Larsen has been appointed as legal counsel for the deceased’s parents and brother.

The deceased is the accused’s wife, Larsen told Dagbladet.

She goes on to say that the man now accused of murder was previously accused of leaving the woman in a helpless state.

– So the investigation has been very broad and extensive. Documents have been sealed, so my clients have not found out much, but there have been hypotheses that have come to the surface earlier this week, says Larsen.

– Not unexpectedly

– How do your clients react to this latest development?

– They are shocked, but it is not unexpected. It is still a tough message to receive.

– Why is it not unexpected?

– There are a number of details surrounding the death that have caused them to think that it was not natural, says Larsen.

The case is updated.
